Sam Newman has spent a career working at the nexus of food, health, and development. He has a depth of knowledge in the food/retail landscape, gained over a decade working in leadership capacities at H-E-B and Brighter Bites, a Houston-based nonprofit that delivers produce to schoolchildren and their families. In these roles, Sam took part in designing and executing innovative efforts that advanced health and prosperity by improving access, affordability, and quality of food for individuals and communities.
As founder of Little Red Box Grocery, he is now tackling the intractable issue of food deserts, communities where a persistent lack of access to healthy and affordable foods leaves an urgent need for fresh solutions.
