The Story Behind the Kissing Sailor
Who was the Kissing Sailor in New York City Times Square on August 14, 1945? Join us on Veterans Day to honor our WWII veterans and learn about America's celebration as the end of the war nears. G.Lee Gallery invites you to a lecture by Rene' Palmer Armstrong, World War II expert and who was the Kissing Sailor’s business agent. While doing research on her book "Wings and a Ring" about a WWII B-25 bomber pilot in the jungles of New Guinea , Glenn McDuffie - the kissing sailor - entered her life. She learned first-hand the back story - why the kiss happened, details about the individuals and the circumstances that brought them together. Find out the amazing true-life story of the real Kissing Sailor, Rene’ will share the photos that were taken that day by two different photographers – and you just thought there was only one photo and one photographer! She will discuss photographic details and the verification process used by the Guiness Book of Record’s and Houston Police Department's forensic artist.
