Picasso, I Alone
The art of Pablo Ruiz Picasso will come to Galveston for a special exhibit entitled “Picasso, I Alone” beginning Oct. 14 through Dec. 18 at The Tremont House, 2300 Ship’s Mechanic Row. This 40-piece exhibit from Malaga, Spain, the birthplace of Picasso, is from the personal collection of Javier Fructuoso Medina and has never been seen in the United States. The exhibition features lithographs, engravings, and ceramic items representative of various techniques in the artist’s career, ranging from 1905 to 1972. The exhibit includes two items, unique to the Medina collection, that have never been on display in a public exhibit. “Picasso, I Alone” is a tribute to Bernardo de Galvez, also from Malaga, for whom the City of Galveston was named.
Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-11 and free for children under 6. Tickets are available online at www.PicassoGalveston.com. The collection is open for public viewing daily on Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“Picasso, I Alone” is underwritten by George Mitchell and the Mitchell family. The Tremont House is part of Mitchell Historic Properties and is managed by Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, LLC.
