Great Texas 300 Catamaran Race
The 11th annual Great Texas Catamaran Race is a 300 mile open ocean beach catamaran race from South Padre Island to Galveston, Texas. The race is the most challenging catamaran race in the world. Like the Tour de France, the Great Texas is divided into four day long legs. Each of the four legs of the race begins and finishes on the beach. Sailors launch their boats through the surf, sail 60-100 miles at speeds as fast as 25 mph, and then finish on the beach.
The last leg of the race will finish on East Beach just inside Apffel Park. The racers will be finishing up their 300 mile race sometime between 1- 3pm. Time of finish depends on the weather conditions. We would love for you to come out and watch these amazing sailors finish their journey.
