Driving the Ship: Navigation at Sea in the 19th Century
Whether you are herding cattle through endless grasslands, or sailing across the great blue Pacific, knowing where you are on the world map is a lifesaving skill. Both cowboys and sailors have a long history of charting the wild and unknown, and it is through their ingenuity and bravery that world has been shaped into what it is today. Join us as we welcome the Texas Seaport Museum in a hands on demonstration of how 19th century sailors made their way across the vast blue wilderness of the world’s oceans and lived to tell the tale.
