Calling all bakers! It?s time to lasso your latest recipes and mosey on down to The Kitchen Chick! The fourth annual Texas Independence Day Cake Showdown will take place Saturday, March 5, 2016 at The Kitchen Chick! The winning baker will take home a $100 gift certificate to The Kitchen Chick and braggin' rights! Entries must be turned in on Saturday, March 5, 2016, 5-6PM, no late entries will be accepted. Please bring entries to The Kitchen Chick, 528 23rd Street. Showdown results will be announced at 7:00pm that evening during Artwalk. Baker does not need to be present to win (but it sure would be nice!). Cakes/plates may be removed following the results. Official Contest Rules: Contestants must bake their cake(s) in the official contest Texas-shaped cake pan available from The Kitchen Chick. No pan, no entry. All cakes must be fully baked from scratch; no commercial or box mixes. At least one ingredient must be a Texas-made/harvested/created product. This ingredient should be noted in the accompanying recipe. Any leftover cake will become the property of the contest. Entries must be labeled with a cake name and accompanied by the recipe used to bake it. Judges will use the recipe as part of their information for evaluation. Also, with the contestant?s permission, the recipes will be collected for distribution to the public. If the contestant chooses not to give permission, this will not affect whether their entry is eligible to win a prize. Judges? decisions are final. The overall winning entry will be awarded a $100 gift certificate to The Kitchen Chick! To register, just call the shop, 409-497-2999, and we will email you an official entry form! We will also honor requests to have a pan put on hold until you can make it to the shop to purchase it. If you already own the pan just register and get to baking up a prize winning recipe! Following the conclusion of the contest, forks will be available to the public! Any remaining cake will be sampled and enjoyed!
